Huskers Set Men's Gymnastics 2022 Schedule
Head Coach Chuck Chmelka and the Nebraska men's gymnastics team announced its 2022 schedule which includes two home meets at the Bob Devaney Sports Center and several challenging competitions.
The Huskers are scheduled to make its first home appearance with the return of Husker Nation to the Devaney Center as NU battles Penn State and Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
The Big Red return to Devaney on Saturday, March 5 for a triangular against Illinois and Minnesota at 5 p.m.
"Having fans in the stands is exciting for our team," Coach Chmelka said. "It is going to be great to have their energy while we are competing. Adding non-conference meets to our schedule for the first time in two years will also add a level of competition and excitement that our team is ready for."
Nebraska opens its 2022 regular season at the Rocky Mountain Open on Saturday, Jan. 15 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The meet is set to start at 7 p.m.
The Huskers travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., to take on the defending Big Ten champions Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 12:00 p.m.
Following its home triangular against Penn State and Iowa (Feb. 5), NU will travel to Norman, Okla. to take on the Sooners on Saturday, Feb. 19.
As a team, The Huskers will take a week off, but selected individuals will compete at the prestigious Winter Cup in Indianapolis, Ind. The event will take place during the weekend of Feb. 25. The competition is set to begin at 6 p.m.
After the final home triangular against Illinois and Minnesota (March 5), the Huskers will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. to compete against Air Force and Army on Saturday, March 12.
Nebraska will then travel to Columbus, Ohio on Sunday, March 19 to compete in its last regular season meet against Ohio State at 12:00 p.m.
Postseason starts April 1-2 as the Huskers head to State College, Penn. for the Big Ten Championships.
Oklahoma will host the 2022 NCAA Championships in Norman, Okla. on April 15-16.
Nebraska returns 16 letterwinners in 2022, including 5 All-Americans (Jake Bonnay, Taylor Christopulos, Charlie Giles, Khalil Jackson, and Evan Kriley). Nebraska also added All-American Donte McKinney from the University of Minnesota to their roster. These gymnasts are hoping to lead the way back to the finals of the NCAA Championships for a shot at the national title.
