RENO, Nev. - Assistant Bowling Coach Julia Bond took home the Professional Women's Bowling Association Pepsi Classic title on Thursday at the National Bowling Stadium.
Bond averaged 231 with her three wins on her way to the championship title. In Thursday's opening game, she defeated Stefanie Johnson, 203-192, and defeated Missy Parkin with eight strikes, 256-220, to advance to the finals.
Bond competed against Maria José Rodriguez in the championship match. She ended the championship match with six consecutive strikes to seal her victory and secure the $10,000 top prize for her third win of the 2021 PWBA Tour season.
"I'm still in disbelief about what happened," said Bond. "I'm extremely proud of how I performed and how I didn't give up. I'm going to remember that moment for a very long time. In the moments where I'm doubting myself I can look back at that time and know that I can do difficult things and get the job done."
Earlier this season, Bond won PWBA Hall of Fame Classic in January and the United States Bowling Congress Queens Tournament in May.
Now, Bond will go on to compete in the PWBA Tour Championship on Oct 29-30 in Reno, Nev. She is hoping to take this win's momentum into a run at her second major of the season, as well as a chance at PWBA Player of the Year for the 2021 season.
