Freyhof Garners All-Big Ten Honor with 13th-Place Finish

Erika Freyhof was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team after finishing 13th with a time of 21:06.8 at the Big Ten Championships on Friday morning in University Park, Pa.
 
The Nebraska men finished ninth in the team standings with 274 points. Wisconsin totaled 27 points to run away with the men's championship while Michigan placed second with 79 points. The Husker women placed 11th with 289 points in the team standings. Minnesota captured the women's title with 72 points, followed by runner-up Wisconsin with 78 points.
 
Following Freyhof, Hannah Godwin was the next Husker to cross the finish line with a time of 22:06.3 to place 65th. Grace Pagone recorded a 74th-place finish with a run of 22:19.3. Jacquelyn Abanses and Taya Skelton finished back-to-back in 80th and 81st-place to round out the scoring for Nebraska. Abanses covered the course in 22:27.9 while Skelton finished with a time of 22:34.5.
 
"Erika ran really well to earn all-conference honors for the second season in a row," said head coach Matt Wackerly. "The entire women's team was so close to a great finish in tough, wet conditions. We ran with poise this morning and will be better moving forward."
 
Dais Malebana led the Big Red men with a 46th-place finish, covering the 5.2-mile course in 25:58.5. Ryan Martins posted a time of 26:01.4 to finish 48th. Bailey Timmons clocked a 26:45.2 to finish 75th, followed by Ryan Eastman in 78th-place with a time of 26:55.0. Jerry Jorgenson placed 84th and crossed the finish line with a time of 27:08.8.
 
Nebraska is off next weekend and returns to action at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday, Nov. 12 in Iowa City, Iowa.
