Kenosha, Wis. - The Nebraska bowling team won the Motiv Ladyjack Classic title making it their third consecutive title to open the 2021-22 campaign, as the Huskers rolled to a 10-2 record with a total pinfall of 12,608.
Nebraska opened bracket play against McKendree, falling in their first game (175-218). The Huskers retaliated in game two with seven strikes in a row to claim the game by a score of 259-227. The Bearcats came back to win game three (209-238) and four (210-214). After the two losses, the Huskers bounced back and took game five (216-178) and six (213-189). In the final match against McKendree, the Huskers finished strong to claim their spot in the championship match by a score of 247-226.
The McKendree Bearcats came back for a rematch in the battle for the championship title. The Huskers started off strong and bowled six consecutive strikes to win by a score of 246-201. Nebraska took that momentum to claim the second (194-187) and third game (217-174). The Huskers secured their title in the fourth game by a score of 205-160.
"I'm extremely proud of the first half of the season," said Assistant Coach Julia Bond. "The ladies have been putting in a lot of work between events and I think it shows. They've definitely made my first few months back at Nebraska an absolutely joy. They have a winning mentality and aren't afraid to put everything on the line and do what's best for Nebraska bowling. I'm really looking forward to the second half of the season and continuing to work hard with the team."
Nebraska will return to the lanes January 7-9 at the Storming Blue & Gold in Las Vegas, Nev.
