Nebraska Divers Ready for Three-Day UCLA Invite

The Husker divers are set to compete for the first time in 2022 with the three-day Bruin Diving Invitational in Los Angeles. The UCLA-hosted event begins on Friday, Jan. 14 with one-meter prelims at 12:30 p.m. (CT) and finals to follow at 3 p.m. (CT). The three-meter will take place Saturday and platform divers compete on Sunday at the same times.

All-American senior Sara Troyer, fellow senior Hallie Roman and sophomore Reagan Hinze will represent the Big Red over the weekend. The trio will dive among an eleven-team field, including South Dakota State, a team that the Huskers faced on Oct. 2. There are six California teams being represented including Fresno State, UCLA, Stanford, Cal Baptist, Southern California and USCD. Wyoming, Northern Arizona and UNLV round out the field.

Michigan native, Roman, and Hinze, hailing from Texas, will dive in all three events, while Indiana native, Troyer, will take on the one-meter and three-meter. Troyer is coming off of an appearance at the USA Diving Winter Nationals, adding to her experience competing at the national level. The senior has qualified for the NCAA Championships the past two seasons (one meter, three meter) and competed at NCAA Zone Championships in 2020 (three meter). Her senior campaign highlights include nine victories so far and breaking a 13-year-old facility record at Beyer Pool in Ames, Iowa with a 343.20 on Oct. 30.

Hinze recorded a career-best in the one-meter at Iowa State on Oct. 30 (275.35), followed by a career-best in the three-meter against Kansas (269.63) the next week. Along with Hinze, Roman has also been a consistent contributor for the Huskers and has eight top-three finishes this season.
