No. 22 Huskers Ready for No. 16 BYU

The No. 22 Nebraska women's gymnastics team (1-0, 0-0 Big Ten) is set to take on the No. 16 BYU Cougars (1-3, 1-1 MRGC) this Saturday, Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. CT at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The Huskers host the Cougars for the first time since March 13, 2000. Former Husker and current Head Coach Heather Brink received her second perfect 10 on vault during this meet. 

The last time the two teams met was in 2020 when BYU narrowly won 195.600-195.750. The series is currently tied 12-12. 

Last Time Out
NU is ready to use the momentum to top another ranked opponent. The Huskers traveled to Iowa State on Friday, Jan. 7, upseting the No. 20 Cyclones 194.425-194.350. 

Nebraska freshman Emma Spence had a standout collegiate debut, winning the all-around title with a score of 38.875. Senior Kynsee Roby matched her career-high on vault (9.800) earning herself the event title in the season opener. Sophomore Kinsey Davis added the third event title of the night, claiming the high score on uneven bars with a 9.825.

Scouting the Competition
The Cougars started their season in the Best of Utah meet, earning a third-place finish behind Utah and Utah State, with a team score of 195.225. 

Elease Rollins and Sydney Benson earned a 9.800 on vault, the highest-score on the team for BYU. Anna Bramblett made her career debut on uneven bars, notching the highest BYU score with a 9.825. Haley Pitou and Benson also earned a 9.825 on uneven bars. Freshman Eliza Millar was honored by the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference as the Beam Specialist of the Week after earning a 9.875 on the event. Senior Brittney Vitkauskas led the Cougars on floor, earning a 9.875.
