Eight Huskers in Contention at USBC Queens

Addison, Ill. - A number of former Husker bowlers are in action this weekend competing at the 2022 United States Bowling Congress Queens.
 
In all, eight former Huskers are in contention to advance to the 64-bowler bracket in the first bowling major of the year, which will be capped by the finals Tuesday night on CBS Sports Network.
 
After two days of qualifying, five of the top-12 spots after 10 games are taken by former Huskers with Gazmin Mason (2,246, third) and Liz Kuhlkin (2,228, fifth). Other former Huskers in the top 12 include Cassandra Leuthold (2,213, seventh), Shannon Pluhowsky (2,171, ninth) and Lindsey Boomershine (2,149, 12th). Erin McCarthy (2,099, 27th), Diandra Asbaty (2,074, 38th), Julia Bond (2,014, 59th) rounded out the eight Husker bowlers in action through 10 games.
 
Bond, who is the defending champion, automatically advances to bracket play, while the top 63 bowlers after 15 qualifying games will also join Bond in the double-elimination bracket play. The final round of qualifying will take place on Saturday.
