Defending champion Julia Bond enters the final day of bracket competition in position to defend her USBC Queens title after a perfect Sunday.
Bond, who bowled at Nebraska from 2015-18 and is currently an assistant coach with the Huskers, went 3-0 during the first day of bracket play. She defeated Russia's Maria Bulanova (646-506), Courtney Jacques of Albany, Georgia (676-543), and Latvia's Diana Zavjalova (672-590) in best-of-3 matches.
Bond was the only former Husker to go 3-0 on Sunday, while Diandra Asbaty and Erin McCarthy are still alive through the double-elimination backet. Both can earn spots in Tuesday's stepladder finals, as the top five qualifiers in bracket play advance to the televised finals.
Five other Huskers advanced to bracket play, but were eliminated on Sunday, including Liz Kuhlkin (2-2), Gazmine Mason (2-2), Shannon Pluhowsky (2-2), Lindsay Boomershine (2-2) and Cassandra Leuthold (0-2).
