St. Clair Earns Region Assistant Coaching Honor

Nebraska track and field associate head coach and throws coach Justin St. Clair was named the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year on Thursday.

St. Clair has been voted the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year 10 times since 2016, and this is his second consecutive women's outdoor assistant coach of the year honor as he earned the award at North Dakota State last summer.

This outdoor season, he coached two Husker women - Maddie Harris and Axelina Johansson - to NCAA medals. Harris was second in the javelin and Johansson was third in the shot put. The Huskers had three female throwers in total earn outdoor All-America honors, as Mirta Kulisic finished 14th in the javelin.

St. Clair's throwers scored 14 of NU's 16 team points at the NCAA Championships to earn a 14th-place finish, the Huskers' best team finish since 2006.

Under St. Clair, Harris won the Big Ten javelin gold medal with a school-record 189-11 (57.90m). Johansson (shot put) and Kulisic (javelin) earned silver medals at the conference meet. In total, NU's javelin throwers scored 25 points at the Big Ten Championships with first, second, fifth and sixth finishes.
