Head Coach Heather Brink announced the addition of freshmen Katelyn Barth and Annie Worley along with junior-transfer Sophia McClelland to the 2022-23 Nebraska women's gymnastics roster.
Katelyn Barth, Fargo, North Dakota
Katelyn Barth joins the Huskers after training at American Gold Gymnastics in Fargo, N.D. Barth is the first gymnast from North Dakota since two-time First-Team All-American Sienna Crouse. Barth was the 2022 North Dakota State Champion on beam and a 2022 National Qualifier. She intends to major in nutrition and health sciences at Nebraska.
Katelyn on Nebraska: "I chose Nebraska because the resources and opportunities they offer for both academics and athletes stood out. The coaches, team, staff and students are so welcoming and walking around campus, I knew it was a great fit."
Annie Worley, Northville, Michigan
Annie Worley joins the Huskers after training at Olympia Gymnastics Academy in Northville, Michigan. Worley was a two-time Eastern National Qualifier and a two-time National Qualifier. She claimed the 2018 Level 9 Regional title on bars and in the all-around competition. Worley's sister, Emma, was on the tennis team at Nebraska from 2016-2021.
Worley on Nebraska: "I chose Nebraska because of all the amazing opportunities the university offers for academics and athletics. The campus is beautiful and all the facilities are amazing. The coaches are all very welcoming, positive and encouraging. It is the perfect school and feels like home."
Sophia McClelland, Camarillo, California
Junior Sophia McClelland joins the Huskers as a transfer after spending the past two seasons at BYU. McClelland competed consistently on beam for the Cougars, helping BYU to the 2021 NCAA Morgantown Regional and the 2022 NCAA Seattle Regional. She holds a personal-best score of 9.925 on the event. McClelland is a Camarillo, Calif., native, and intends to major in sports media and communications at Nebraska.
McClelland on Nebraska: "I chose Nebraska because of their communications program and to help bring the women's gymnastics team back to the top."
