Ethan Piper Quotes - 10-11-22

Ethan Piper
Nebraska Offensive Lineman
Pre-Purdue
Press Conference

On his mindset as a starter

"Life is all about ups and downs. There are obstacles that come your way. There are two ways you can look at it like hey you can believe what people are saying about you or hey this is an opportunity to be better. I have grown as a man at Nebraska and I am very grateful for everything that has happened to me here. I don't think anything bad about what has happened. For me, it is just an opportunity to grow. I think through that it has been an opportunity for me to grow and has made me a better football player and a better person."

On the offensive line
"I think just watching the film we just have to go back to the basics. We cannot get flustered. I think we were thinking too much about what Rutgers was trying to do to us especially in pass protection. We just have to believe that our team's technique is going to produce the results that we want. It is just a learning factor. I think Rutgers did a lot of things that was not shown on film and a lot of things that they played really well. But that does not give an excuse for us. I think we just have to go back to fundamentals. That is all we have to do."

On Coach Donovan Raiola
"I love Coach (Donovan) Raiola. You have a good offensive line coach when you love and hate him at the same time because he is always pushing you to be a player that he sees you to be. He is just a great guy. He has an understanding of the feel of the room and can push players to their full potential. He teaches everyone a little bit differently. Sometimes he can yell at people. Sometimes he speaks softly to someone else. He does a good job at reading the room and getting us progressing the way we need to be."

On Casey Thompson
"I was just saying thanks. I think we had too many quarterback hits on Friday, and my message to him was he stuck in there. He made a lot of throw when we was under pressure, and he did a great job at handling the pocket. My message to him was just 'hey we are going to do better. Believe in us, and we believe in you.'"
