Nebraska Women's Golf Head Coach Jeanne Sutherland announced the signing of three-time Utah state champion Arden Louchheim to a National Letter of Intent on Friday, Nov. 11.
Louchheim (pronounced LOCK-hime) enters her senior season at Rowland Hall High School in Salt Lake City as a three-time Utah Class 2A state champion. She led the Winged Lions to back-to-back state team championships in 2021 and 2022, and will shoot for a four-year individual sweep and a third straight team title this spring. Louchheim, who fired a personal-best and school-record 67 (-5) at the 2022 state championship, is a two-time team MVP and team captain entering her senior season.
A four-time IMG Junior World Championship participant, Louchheim is also a two-time Girls Junior America's Cup team member. She was also an AJGA Rolex Scholastic All-American.
"We're so pleased to sign Arden and have her join the Huskers," Sutherland said. "She is a very talented athlete and is focused on being the best player she can be in the future. Arden is also an excellent student and a wonderful person, so she will add to our team in many ways."
In addition to her success on the course and in the classroom, Louchheim is also a two-time high school letterwinner in alpine ski racing and was a competitive skier for 11 years, qualifying for U.S. Nationals in 2020.
The daughter of David Louchheim and Akemi Louchheim, Arden was born Feb. 11, 2005 in Seattle, Wash. She has an older brother, Carter. Arden's father is the radio play-by-play voice of the Utah Jazz. The color analyst for the Jazz is Ron Boone, father of former Husker men's basketball player Jaron Boone. Arden selected Nebraska over Indiana, Kansas State and Boise State.
"I chose Nebraska because of the high-level golf program, the school spirit, pride and the College of Journalism and Mass Communications," Louchheim said. "The girls on the team and the coaches were so kind and welcoming on my visit. The team culture felt like one that I wanted to be a part of. I am incredibly excited to have the honor of being a part of an athletic institution with such an amazing fan base. The cherry on top for me is the impressiveness of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. Its extensive resources and classes on subjects that I am interested in really excites me."
