Huskers Honored for Academic Achievement

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has recognized the Nebraska softball team as one of the highest achieving teams in the classroom during the 2022-23 academic year. The Huskers posted a team grade-point average of 3.65 in 2022-23 and had 13 players named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes.

Billie Andrews, Ava Bredwell, Katelyn Caneda, Mya Felder, Alina Felix, Sydney Gray, Kaylin Kinney, Caitlynn Neal, Abbey Newlun, Abbie Squier, Talia Tokheim, Courtney Wallace and Haidyn Warner were each named to the All-America Scholar-Athlete team.

As a team, Nebraska’s 3.65 team GPA during the 2022-23 academic year ranked 21st nationally among Division I programs. The Huskers’ grade-point average tied with Illinois for the highest team GPA among Big Ten schools during the 2022-23 season. Nebraska’s GPA also ranked third among teams from a Power Five Conference.

Nebraska’s academic recognition came after the Huskers advanced to an NCAA Regional Final, securing a top-20 national finish on the field. Nebraska and Clemson were the only two schools in the country to make an NCAA Regional final and post a team GPA of 3.6 or greater this past season.
