Nebraska Football Coaches Shows Set for New Day and Time
Nebraska’s new multimedia rights partner, Playfly Sports, announced Monday details for Head Coach Matt Rhule’s television and radio shows for the 2023 season. Both programs will move to a new day and time slot for this fall.

In an effort to increase exposure and visibility to Nebraska fans, The Husker Football Show with Matt Rhule will now air statewide on Monday evenings. Playfly has partnered with Gray Television, KMTV and News Channel Nebraska for statewide distribution.

“We have revised the show format and our team is excited about the new distribution plans for our TV show,” said Jason Rathe, General Manager for Playfly Sports.  “The new primetime schedule will give our fans a consistent opportunity to hear Coach Rhule break down the previous game.”

The Husker Football Show will air on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. CT. The show will air on KMTV in the Omaha area, KSNB Local4 in the Lincoln, Grand Island, Hastings and Kearney areas, on KNOP News 2 in North Platte and on NBC Nebraska in Scottsbluff.  The show will also appear on News Channel Nebraska throughout the week.

“We’re excited to partner with the Huskers to elevate the placement of The Husker Football Show with Matt Rhule,” said Shannon Booth, Vice President and General Manager of KSNB Local4 and KNOP News 2. “We are laser-focused on prioritizing and providing good local content to our viewers, so we’re happy to present this highly popular program in the 6:30 time period.”

“KMTV is thrilled to partner with the University of Nebraska to give viewers exclusive access to Coach Matt Rhule’s inaugural season,” said Lisa Volenec, Vice President and General Manager of KMTV. “This is an exciting time for Husker Nation, and we look forward to bringing this show to our passionate fan base. GO BIG RED!”

The first Husker Football Show will air on Monday, Sept. 4, following Nebraska’s season opener at Minnesota.

In addition to the changes in the Nebraska football television show, Playfly has also adjusted the radio schedule for the Nebraska Football Coaches Radio Show.  The weekly program will air Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. airing on most Husker Radio network affiliates including KLIN (1400 AM) in Lincoln, KXSP-AM (590 AM) in Omaha and KRVN (880 AM) in Lexington.

The show will feature Head Coach Matt Rhule or one of Nebraska’s full-time assistant coaches each week during the season. The first Husker Football Coaches Radio Show will air this Tuesday evening with Rhule in studio for the 6 p.m. hour with host Greg Sharpe.

The show offers Nebraska fans the opportunity to hear the latest on the Nebraska football program, review the previous week’s game and look ahead to the upcoming opponent. Husker fans can also text in their questions for the guest coach. There may be a limited number of weeks when the show will shift nights due to a weekday game, or a conflict with another Husker sporting event.

Sharpe, Benning and Coody to Highlight Husker Radio Game-Day Coverage
Playfly Sports has finalized details for its 2023 game-day radio broadcasts. The Huskers Radio Network game-day broadcast will begin four hours before kickoff each game, beginning with a 3 p.m. broadcast for Nebraska’s Aug. 31 season opener at Minnesota. All games can be heard on the Huskers Radio Network stations across the state and region, on-line at Huskers.com and on the official Huskers App.

Veteran broadcaster Greg Sharpe returns for his 16th season as the “Voice of the Huskers”. Sharpe, who also hosts the Husker football television and radio shows, will also be a part of the pre-game show coverage leading up to kickoff.

Damon Benning joined the network in 2022 and returns as the primary analyst for the 2023 season. Benning was a four-year letterwinner at running back for the Huskers in the 1990s, and his media resume includes work on both radio and television, including BTN, Nebraska Public Media and daily local radio.

Jessica Coody is in her second season as the sideline reporter for the Huskers and her third year overall with the Huskers Radio Network. Coody also serves as the co-host of Sports Nightly and produces exclusive Nebraska player and coach content for distribution on multiple Husker platforms.

Former Husker offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles will also be a contributor to the Husker broadcasts during the 2023 season. Matt Coatney and Ben McLaughlin will lead the pregame and postgame coverage.  Coatney will host the Big Red Reaction show, which will feature three former Huskers as new analysts in 2023, as Tommy Armstrong Jr., Josh Banderas and Zach Potter will appear on the show on a rotating basis.

In addition to the primary Husker Radio Network broadcast, all Husker football games will be available in Spanish for the third consecutive year through a partnership with Tico Sports. The Spanish language broadcasts will be available on the Huskers App and Huskers.com.
