The Husker men’s basketball team opened the 2023-24 season Friday night with the annual Opening Night with Husker Hoops at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The event featured portions of practice from both the Husker men and women, and a 3-point contest following practice. Fans also heard from Husker coaches and players, as both teams are in their first week of preseason practice.
Junior guard C.J. Wilcher won the event with 17 3-pointers to top Keisei Tominaga (14) and Josiah Allick (nine). Annika Stewart led the women with 14 3-pointers, edging Jaz Shelly’s total of 13, while Callin Hake finished with nine.
Both Husker teams will host exhibition games on Sunday, Oct. 29, as the women will host Dakota Wesleyan while the men will take on Doane.
