Head Coach Heather Brink announced the addition of three future Huskers to the women’s gymnastics program on Wednesday.
Reese Baker (Fairfield, Calif.), Lauren Hollifield (Dacula, Ga.) and Molly Peterson (Woodbury, Minn.) will join the roster for the 2024-25 season.
"We are so excited about this year’s class, and I can’t wait for them to join Husker Nation," Brink said. "They all have their own unique strengths and personality that will contribute to the team. I look forward to seeing the impact that they’ll have on our program.”
Reese Baker, Fairfield, California
Baker trains at Dream Xtreme Gymnastics under head coach Annie Baker. She is a five-time regional qualifier. She competes on all four events and has posted a career-best score of 36.950 in all-around, along with highs of 9.575 on vault, 9.125 on bars, 9.300 on beam and 9.575 on floor.
The daughter of Jeff and Annie Baker, Reese was born on Sept. 21, 2006. She has one sister, Reagan. She intends to major in hospitality, restaurant and tourism management at Nebraska.
Baker on Nebraska: “I chose Nebraska because of the incredible team culture and coaching staff, along with the amazing facilities and opportunities the school has to provide. The first time I stepped foot on campus, it felt like home.”
Lauren Hollifield, Dacula, Georgia
Hollifield trains at Bio Gymnastics under head coach Brad McLaren. She is a regional qualifier and has posted career highs of 9.700 on beam, 9.750 on bars and 37.975 in all-around.
Lauren was born on May 13, 2005 to Eric and Jennifer Hollifield and has one brother, Nick. She enjoys biking, journaling and cooking.
Hollifield on Nebraska: “I chose Nebraska because it felt like home as soon as I stepped on campus. The coaches and girls felt like family, and I loved the culture in and out of the gym. Nebraska also provides you all of the resources you need to succeed!”
Molly Peterson, Woodbury, Minnesota
Peterson trains at Flips Gymnastics under coaches Bart and Lori Rokoski. She is a three-time JO National Qualifier. In 2021, she placed ninth on vault and bars. In 2022, she earned a ninth-place finish on vault and seventh on all-around. In 2023, she was fourth on bars, ninth on beam and eighth in all-around. Peterson was a 2023 state beam champ and placed second on vault, first on bars and second in all-around at regionals. She earned an impressive score of 9.950 on bars in 2023 and was a 2022 Nastia Cup qualifier and floor state champion.
The daughter of Kip and Heidi Peterson, Molly was born on Oct. 19, 2005. She has two older brothers, Cole and Aaron, and enjoys golfing and baking in her free time.
Peterson on Nebraska: “I chose Nebraska because I felt at home when I walked on campus. I had the feeling of being so welcomed. The atmosphere on campus is what I was looking for and here at Nebraska I felt just that and more.”
