Huskers Roll Past South Carolina State, 91-62

C.J. Wilcher tallied 18 points to lead four Huskers in double figures, as Nebraska blitzed South Carolina State, 91-62, Friday evening. 

Wilcher was 7-of-9 from the field, including two 3-pointers off the bench, as Nebraska built a 23-3 lead in the first 10 minutes, and cruised to the win.
 
Brice Williams added 16 points while Josiah Allick and Eli Rice both added 10 points, respectively. In all, 11 of 12 players who saw action got into the scoring column, as no Husker played more than 24 minutes. 

Nebraska (11-2) limited South Carolina State (4-11) to just 31.1 percent shooting on the evening, including 5-of-42 in the first half, as the Huskers built a 50-11 halftime lead. South Carolina State’s 11 first-half points marked the fewest points NU allowed in a half since 2009. 

The Huskers shot a blistering 55.2 percent in the first half and cooled off after leading by as many as 49 points with more than eight minutes to go. 

The Huskers held South Carolina State scoreless for the opening almost six minutes of the first half as NU jumped out to a 10-0 lead, forcing a Bulldog timeout just four minutes into the contest. Behind Williams and Jamarques Lawrence who combined for 13 early points, Nebraska stretched the margin to 20, at 23-3, at the 10-minute mark after a Wilcher basket. 

Nebraska had three double-figure runs in the first half in building a 39-point halftime lead, as NU got 20 points from its bench in the first 20 minutes. The Huskers eventually got the lead to 49, at 80-31 with 8:39 remaining and had all of its starters out by the 13-minute mark of the second half. 

South Carolina State was led by Jordan Simpson, who scored 17 points, and Michael Teal and Raquan Brown who added 11 and 10 points.
