Fourth Place All-Around Finish Highlights Spence’s Pan American Showing

Nebraska women’s gymnastics rising senior Emma Spence competed in the Pan American Games in Santa Marta, Colombia, May 22-26. 

The Canada native earned impressive scores in the preliminary rounds, registering a 13.400 on vault, 12.767 on bars, 12.533 on beam and 12.200 on floor, and amassed a 50.900 in the all-around. She qualified for the finals in the all-around, along with vault, bars and beam.

In the all-around finals on Friday, Spence recorded marks of 13.467 on vault, 12.733 on bars, 12.667 on beam and 12.667 on floor to total a 51.534 and finish in fourth place overall. 

Spence participated in the vault, bars and beam event finals on Sunday, posting scores of 12.784 on vault, 12.767 on bars and 12.833 on beam. Her score on vault was good for third place, while her bars and beam marks placed her fourth. 

Spence will continue to work to qualify to represent Canada in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
