Nebraska natives Hannah and Lauren Camenzind have joined the Husker softball team for the 2025 season. The twins spent the past two seasons at Arkansas and will have two seasons of eligibility at Nebraska.
Hannah, a left-handed pitcher and outfielder, was a second-team All-SEC selection with the Razorbacks while Lauren, a catcher and infielder, earned third-team all-region accolades.
“This is a special day to announce the Camenzind twins are returning home and joining the Nebraska softball family,” Head Coach Rhonda Revelle said. “We are grateful to have this journey come full circle with their return to Nebraska, as they have been coming to our camps since they were young girls.”
Hannah pitched in 48 games with 17 starts in her two seasons at Arkansas, compiling a 14-3 record with one save and a 3.11 ERA in 119.1 innings. She went 5-2 with a 3.15 ERA in 60.0 innings as a freshman in 2023 with a pair of shutouts, including a one-hit shutout of Harvard in the NCAA Tournament. Hannah was a second-team All-SEC selection in 2023 and was a three-time SEC Freshman of the Week. As a sophomore in 2024, Hannah went 9-1 with one save and a 3.07 ERA in 59.1 innings.
Hannah also started nine games in right field and four games as the designated player in 2024. She hit .308 in her two seasons at Arkansas with 28 hits, 13 runs, four doubles, two triples, one home run and 17 RBIs.
“Hannah is one of the best two-way players in the college game. As both a pitcher and a hitter, Hannah’s drive and desire to get on the mound and in the box and compete will excite and inspire our fans,” Revelle said. “We are looking forward to seeing Hannah take the field for the Red Team.”
Lauren played in 86 games in her two seasons at Arkansas with 79 starts. She started 47 games at catcher as a freshman in 2023 before starting 32 games at shortstop as a sophomore in 2024. Lauren hit .237 as a Razorback with 47 hits, 29 runs, nine doubles, two home runs and 28 RBIs.
In 2023, Lauren was named a third-team all-region selection. She batted .292 as a freshman with 38 hits, eight doubles, one home run and 19 RBIs. Lauren posted an impressive .303 batting average during the SEC season while starting all 24 games and ranking fourth in the league with six doubles in conference play.
“Lauren is a proven winner,” Revelle said. “Defensively, she is an infielder and a catcher that is smooth fielding and sure handed at each position. She is a great athlete who is versatile defensively and clutch offensively. We are excited to get her on the field and working with the Red Team.”
The Camenzind twins are natives of Valley, Nebraska, and they helped Omaha Skutt to back-to-back state titles.
