Lincoln, Neb. - Nebraska men’s tennis head coach Peter Kobelt has announced the hiring of new assistant coach Brett Forman.
“We are extremely excited to have Brett join our family,” Kobelt said. “Brett brings an elite skill set with him that is going to help push the program forward. His impact will be felt immediately. He will be a great leader on and off the court as well as in the Lincoln community.”
Forman arrives in Lincoln following a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Charlotte, helping the 49ers to an American Conference Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2024.
“I’d like to thank Pete and Keith (Zimmer) for the opportunity to join the Husker family,” Forman said. “I’m excited to help make an impact on our student-athletes on and off the court and to continue the quest of winning championships here at Nebraska.”
Prior to his time in Charlotte, Forman was an assistant at Wichita State in 2021-22 and Wisconsin during the spring of 2021. He gained additional experience as a volunteer assistant at both Princeton and Michigan State, his alma mater.
As a player, Forman was a four-year letterwinner at Michigan State where he played a majority of his career at No. 1 singles, amassing over 100 career victories in singles action. He also earned a collegiate career-high doubles ranking of No. 87 as a senior with teammate Jasper Koenen.
During his final three years as a player in East Lansing, Forman was the Spartans’ team captain, while leading the team in singles victories during each of those seasons.
Forman earned a pair of degrees from MSU, earning his bachelor’s degree in marketing in 2018, before obtaining his master’s degree in sports leadership and coaching in 2020.
