Five Nebraska volleyball student-athletes have been named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars. Merritt Beason, Maisie Boesiger, Lindsay Krause, Kennedi Orr and Bergen Reilly were all recognized by the conference office.
Distinguished Scholar Award recipients must have earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition in the previous academic year, must have been enrolled full time at the institution for the entire previous academic year (two semesters or three quarters) and earned a minimum GPA of 3.70 or better during the previous academic year, excluding any summer grades.
Boesiger, Krause and Orr were all honored for both volleyball and beach volleyball. Krause completed a bachelor's degree in English in May, graduating in three years. She posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring semester. Orr finished a bachelor's degree in communication studies in May in just three years as well. Boesiger, a junior, is majoring in advertising and public relations.
Beason and Reilly were honored for beach volleyball. Beason graduated in three years this past May with a degree in child, youth and family studies. Reilly completed her first full year at Nebraska majoring in business and law.
