Lincoln Native Lucy McCabe to Join Huskers

Nebraska Soccer Head Coach John Walker announced Thursday that Lincoln native Lucy McCabe will transfer from Maryville to Nebraska ahead of the 2024 season. 

A 2023 Lincoln Pius X graduate, McCabe adds experience and depth to the Husker backfield, seeing action in six games last season, tallying one assist and one shot, while helping Maryville to the GLVC conference championship and third-place ranking in the midwest region. 

In high school, McCabe was coached by Steve Andersen and played with current Husker Abby Vacek, as she helped the team to two state appearances and one district championship, while being named to the honorable mention all-state, all-conference and academic all-conference teams two times. On the club side, McCabe played for Coach Alex Mason at Sporting Nebraska, and was a part of the 2023 state championship team.
