Spence Selected as Olympic Alternate

Nebraska women’s gymnastics rising senior Emma Spence was selected as an alternate for Team Canada for the 2024 Olympics, the team announced Friday.

Spence earned a non-traveling alternate position for her performance at the Pan American Games in May and the Canadian Championships in June.

At the Pan American Games, she registered an all-around score of 50.900 in the preliminary rounds, and a 51.534 in the finals to place fourth overall.

At the Canadian Championships, Spence posted a 51.590 on the first day of competition and a 51.149 on day two.

The artistic gymnastics events of the 2024 Olympics in Paris will take place from July 27-August 5, with qualifying rounds from July 27-28, team finals from July 29-30 and all-around and event finals from July 31-August 5.
