Steinforth, Wilson and Moore Announced as Academic All-Americans

Three Nebraska track and field athletes were named Academic All-Americans as the College Sports Communicators announced its men’s track and field award winners on Wednesday. Till Steinforth and Tyus Wilson were named to the first team, while Micaylon Moore was named to the second team.

Academically, Steinforth holds a 3.90 GPA and is majoring in architectural studies, Wilson has a 3.95 GPA in elementary education and Moore carries a 3.86 GPA in biological sciences.

Steinforth, a junior from Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, was named the 2024 Nebraska Male Athlete of the Year and 2024 Midwest Region Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. Adding to his accolades, he’s a two-time Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar, two-time Big Ten Champion, four-time first-team All-American and is now a two-time first-team Academic All-American.

Steinforth garnered two First-Team All-America honors during the 2024 indoor season, placing third in the heptathlon with 6,140 points and seventh in the long jump with a 25-10 (7.87m) at the NCAA Championships. With the seventh-place finish, Steinforth was Nebraska’s first first-team All-American in the long jump since 2014. At the Big Ten Championships, he went a personal-best 26-2 3/4 (7.99m) in the long jump on his final attempt to win the Big Ten title and move up to a tie for fourth on the all-time list. Early on in the season, Steinforth won the heptathlon at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational with 6,097 points, resetting the facility record.

From Sterling, Kan., Wilson is a three-time First-Team All-American, a two-time Big Ten Champion, the 2024 Big Ten Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year and the 2024 Outdoor Midwest Region Men’s Field Athlete of the Year. At the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Wilson was the high jump runner-up with a clearance of 7-3 ¾ (2.23m). He cleared a personal-best 7-6 (2.29m) in the high jump at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships to win the title and move to No. 3 on the all-time list. During the indoor season, Wilson placed fourth at the NCAA Championships with a 7-3 (2.21m) and won the Big Ten title with a height of 7-3 (2.21m).

Moore is from Fort Collins, Colo. and made his NCAA Championship appearance during the 2024 season. He earned first-team All-America honors, placing seventh in the triple jump with a 52-10 1/4 (16.11m). At the Big Ten Championships, Moore won the triple jump title with a 52-11 1/2 (16.14m), while placing fourth in the long jump with a 24-6 1/4 (7.47m). He posted an impressive 54-0 1/2 (16.47m) in the triple jump at the Iowa Open, moving up to No. 3 on the all-time list. During the outdoor season, Moore was named a second-team All-American, finishing 10th in the triple jump at the NCAA Championships (52-10 ¾, 16.12m). He claimed the silver medal in the long jump at the Big Ten Championships with a personal-best 25-9 ½ (7.86m), the seventh-best mark in school history. In the triple jump, Moore added an outdoor personal-best of 53-6 ¼ (16.31m) at the conference meet to claim bronze and move to fifth on the all-time list.

Overall, the Nebraska men's and women's track and field programs lead the nation with 61 combined Academic All-Americans since 2002. All-time the Husker men's and women's track and field programs have combined for 75 Academic All-America awards since 1985.
