The Nebraska rifle program will face many top teams, as the Huskers announced their 2024-25 schedule on Monday.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Richard Clark, NU’s slate is highlighted by meetings with 2024 NCAA champion TCU on Nov. 2 and 2024 NCAA runner-up Kentucky at the Roger Withrow Invitational on Jan. 18. The Huskers, coming off an eighth-place finish at last year’s NCAA Championships, will compete at least once against every team that qualified for the 2024 NCAA Championships.
Renovations at the Nebraska Rifle Range during this year will move NU’s practices and home match off campus this season. The Huskers’ home match for the season will be held at Big Shots Indoor Range on Nov. 10 against UTEP.
“I cannot wait to get our season underway,” Clark said. “It’s going to look a little unorthodox this year having to deal with an off-site range and traveling for almost all our matches, but I think it’ll be a great opportunity for the team to learn and gain experience with each passing week. If they can do that, I think we will see a lot of growth and be in a good spot to make a run at NCAAs come springtime.”
The Big Red returns juniors Emma Rhode and Camilla Johannessen and sophomore Charlie Mick from last year’s roster. Nebraska will also add four new shooters to the squad – Grace Corbett, Riley Dunn, Maddy Moyer and Alivia Perkins.
The Huskers’ home match for the season will be held at Big Shots Indoor Range on Nov. 10 against UTEP.
NU will open the season with matches at Memphis (Oct. 5) and at Air Force and UTEP (Oct. 12). Then, the Huskers will spend the weekend in Annapolis, Md., with matches against Navy and Memphis on Oct. 19 and Navy and Ole Miss on Oct. 20 before traveling to take on TCU on Nov. 2. Following the home match against UTEP, the Big Red will head to Ohio for matches at Ohio State on Nov. 16 and at Akron on Nov. 17 to close out the fall portion of the season.
Nebraska will open the new year at the Withrow Invitational on Jan. 18, 2025 at Murray State, where it will compete against Kentucky, Memphis, Murray State, UAB, North Georgia and Jacksonville State. The team will challenge UTEP in its final regular-season match of the year on Feb. 1 before heading into the postseason.
The 2025 Patriot Rifle Conference Championships will be held on Feb. 8-9 at the X Count in Fort Wayne, Ind. and will feature NU, Ohio State, UTEP, TCU, Air Force and Alaska-Fairbanks.
The Huskers’ NCAA Qualifier match will be at Ohio State on Feb. 22, and the 2025 NCAA Championships will take place on March 14-15 at the University of Kentucky.
