The Nebraska softball team bolstered its pitching staff on July 9 with the addition of Kylee Magee. Magee spent the past two years at Arizona State and will have at least two seasons of eligibility at Nebraska.
Magee was a Pac-12 All-Freshman selection at Arizona State in 2023 before an injury limited her to only six appearances in 2024. In her two seasons as a Sun Devil, Magee made 27 appearances with 24 starts, posting a 5-7 record with two saves and a 3.51 ERA in 89.2 innings.
“We have watched Kylee compete at the highest level since she was in 8th grade, and what we know is that every time she takes the mound, she pitches to win,” Head Coach Rhonda Revelle said. “Kylee is a gifted pitcher that adds a big piece to our talented pitching staff. We are so grateful that Kylee has chosen to be a Nebraska Cornhusker.”
Magee pitched in 21 of Arizona State’s 48 games as a freshman in 2023 and led the team with 20 starts. She posted a 4-6 record with a team-best 3.64 ERA in 75.0 innings with a pair of shutouts. She earned a spot on the Pac-12 All-Freshman team after going 3-4 with a 2.82 ERA in 39.2 innings in Pac-12 play. Magee ranked sixth in the Pac-12 in ERA during the 2023 conference season, and she earned a victory over No. 17 Arizona and tossed a two-hit shutout against Oregon State.
Magee pitched in only six games in 2024 before suffering a season-ending injury in the first week of March. In her limited action, Magee compiled a 1-1 record with two saves, a 2.86 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 14.2 innings. Magee struck out 11 and held Big Ten champion Northwestern to two runs in the season opener before earning a win against Illinois State and saves against James Madison and North Florida. Magee did not allow a run in four of her six appearances in 2024.
A native of Anaheim, California, Magee was a high school All-American and the 2022 CIF Southern Section Division 3 Player of the Year at Canyon High School. She played her club ball for the Corona Angels
