Huskers Strive for More National Success in 2024-25

The Nebraska swimming and diving team takes aim at more All-America-caliber success after a top-30 finish at the NCAA Championships in 2024.

All-American Gena Jorgenson returns for her junior season with the Huskers after breaking four school records and finishing eighth in the 1,650 freestyle at the 2024 NCAA Championships. Her career-best, 15:55.71 finish in the event earned her first-team All-America honors.

Jorgenson added career-best finishes in the 500 freestyle (27th, 4:41.03) and 400 IM (33rd, 4:11.51) at the NCAA Championships. She now holds six school records for the Huskers. At the Big Ten Championships, Jorgenson finished fifth in the 1,650 freestyle (16:01.72) and 10th in the 500 freestyle (4:41.19), hitting the NCAA B standard in both events.

The current school record holder in the 100 breaststroke, JoJo Randby enters her senior season with the Huskers. Randby highlighted her junior campaign with a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke at the midseason Hawkeye Invite. She qualified for the A Final and went on to finish in an NCAA B Standard time of 1:00.54. At the Big Ten Championships, Randby placed 13th.

A senior from Whitby, England, Maia Hall picked up a pair of fifth-place finishes at last season’s Big Ten Championships. She clocked a career-best 1:00.16 in the 100 breaststroke final to place fifth and climb to second all-time for the Huskers. In the 200 breaststroke final, Hall picked up another fifth-place finish with a time of 2:10.90. She cut nearly a second off her time in the event at the Mizzou Last Chance Meet and moved to second all-time for NU with a time of 2:09.87.

A sophomore from Budapest, Hungary, Beatrix Tanko was a key contributor both individually and in relay events for the Huskers. She broke the school record in the 100 butterfly at the Big Ten Championships with a 10th-place finish and a time of 53.16. Tanko added 14 top-three finishes with six titles, while contributing to 10 winning relays, including four against Rutgers (Feb. 2-3).

Anna Vlachou competed in three events at the Big Ten Championships. She clocked a prelim time of 54.32 to qualify for the C final in the 100 butterfly. Vlachou finished 21st-overall with a time of 54.14. She was a member of four winning relays, contributing to a 400 medley relay team that finished eighth at the Big Ten Championships and moved up to third all-time for NU. At the Hawkeye Invite, Vlachou added a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle (50.57) and a pair of eighth-place finishes in the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly.

A senior from Trieste, Italy, Caterina Bisiacchi earned a pair of top-24 finishes at the Big Ten Championships. She logged a career-best time of 16:37.28 in the 1,650 freestyle to finish 20th at the conference meet. Bisiacchi qualified for the 200 butterfly C final and went on to finish 23rd with a time of 2:01.35. At the Hawkeye Invite, she logged a third-place finish in the 1,650 freestyle (16:43.29), a fourth-place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:50.19) and a seventh-place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:03.59).

Sydney McCracken, a senior from Kennett Square, Pa., enters her senior season with the Huskers in 2024-25. She qualified for the C final in two events at last season’s Big Ten Championships. McCracken placed 23rd in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.11) and added a 24th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.05). At the midseason Hawkeye Invite, she picked up a fifth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.07) and a sixth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.13).

Giulia Marchi, a junior from Asola, Italy, is expected to be a key contributor for the Huskers in both individual and relay events. Marchi set her career best in the 200 freestyle at the midseason Hawkeye Invite. She clocked a time of 1:49.06 in the finals to finish runner-up. Marchi added a sixth-place finish in the 100 freestyle and a pair of 17th-place finishes. At the Big Ten Championships, she contributed to an 800 freestyle relay team that finished eighth and moved to third all-time for NU.

Madison Lloyd posted five top-five finishes early in the season for the Big Red, before being limited by injury late in the year. The senior from Houston, Texas competed in three events at Kansas (Nov. 3) and finished four in the 200 backstroke, fifth in 400 IM and sixth in the 100 back. She is looking forward to returning to Nebraska’s competitive group at the 2025 Big Ten Championships, after missing the conference meet as a junior.

Amelia Riggott capped her freshman season with three career bests at the Big Ten Championships. She qualified for the C final in the 100 breaststroke with a prelim time of 1:02.53. Riggott swam a 1:02.45 in the final to place 21st. At the Hawkeye Invite, she placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke final with a time of 1:03.07. Riggott finished with seven top-five finishes on the season.

Jenna Brown did not compete because of injury as a true freshman in 2023-24. She looks to make an impact for the Huskers in the butterfly and freestyle events as a redshirt freshman in 2024-25.

The Big Red will feature a strong returning group of divers in 2024-25, led by Kelsey Clairmont. The junior from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada made her second consecutive NCAA Championships appearance last season on the platform. She put up a score of 502.75 at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships to finish eighth and qualify for the 2024 NCAA Championships. Clairmont went on to take 20th with a score of 242.70 at nationals. She totaled 18 zone-qualifying scores across all events on the season and added 15 top-five finishes.

A sophomore from Coppell, Texas, Abby Baxter was a key contributor on both the one- and three-meter boards for the Huskers a year ago. At the Big Ten Championships, Baxter qualified for the one-meter final with a preliminary score of 257.35, before taking 12th (263.05). She added a 17th-place finish at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships on the one meter with a score of 529.70. Baxter totaled 17 top-five finishes, including seven titles on the season.

Antonina Harned competed on the one-meter, three-meter and platform dives for the Huskers in 2023-24. The talented competitor from Windermere, Fla., capped off her freshman season at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Houston, Texas, by claiming a 23rd-place finish on the three meter (281.25) and a 38th-place showing on the one meter (231.80). Harned produced a career-best 331.50 on the three meter against Kansas. The next weekend against Iowa, she added a career-best 301.45 to earn a runner-up finish on the one-meter board.

Frankie Webb set a three-meter career-best in a dual with Illinois on Jan. 27. The junior from Cambridge, England posted a zone-qualifying score of 295.73 for the runner-up finish. At the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships, she finished 42nd on the three meter (244.80).

A junior from Seward, Neb., Elle Delcamp posted two zone-qualifying scores on the three meter in 2023-24. She set career bests on the one- and three-meters dives in a dual with South Dakota State. Delcamp posted a 248.93 on the one meter and a zone-qualifying 282.38 on the three meter.

Jordyn Schmucker rounded out Nebraska’s contributors in the diving well in 2023-24. She began her Husker career in a double-dual with Minnesota and South Dakota. The freshman from Farmington, Minn., notched career bests on both the one meter (253.43) and three meter (268.20) in dual with South Dakota State.

The Huskers will be bolstered in the well by a new face and familiar name in Nettie Knapton. The junior transfer from Wyoming competed at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in both the three-meter and platform dives after earning All-Mountain West Conference honors on platform in 2024. Knapton is the younger sister of six-time Husker All-American and Academic All-American Abi Knapton.

Virginia Consiglio hopes to join the Huskers for the spring semester. The freshman from Genova, Italy was a member of the Italian Junior National Team for the 2021 and 2023 European Junior Championships, where she set a junior national record in the 50 butterfly.

Maisie Gilford is another international transfer who is hoping to make an instant impact for the Huskers. The sprint freestyler competed in the 2024 British Championships in the 100 and 200-meter freestyles, while taking 12th in the 200 IM. The junior from England swam for the University of Bath and was a teammate of Husker sophomore Amelia Riggott at Mount Kelly.

Jenna Gogel (Bentonville, Ark.) is the reigning Arkansas state champion in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.86). She added a runner-up finish in the 200 IM (210.33), earning All-Arkansas Preps honors. Gogel swam for Northwest Arkansas Aquatics and was named the 2022-23 Swimmer of the Year.

Marissa Laurin joins the Huskers from Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada. She swam for the Grand Prairie Piranhas and led her team to a third-place finish in medium-sized teams at the provincial championships. At the Canada Summer Games, Laurin placed third in the 200 backstroke and finished in the top 10 of her age group in Canada in several other events.

Jazmyn Lunn was the top-ranked prospect from the state of South Dakota in the 2024 class. She was a two-time state champion with the Sioux Falls Swim Team and owns nine state records. At the 2024 State A Championship Meet, Lunn captured six titles.

Riley Miklos (Richmond, Va.) was a state finalist for Deep Run High School in the 200 and 500 freestyles. She swam for Nova of Virginia Aquatics, where she was a 2023 Virginia short-course finalist in the 200, 500 and 1,000 freestyles and the 200 butterfly.

Katy Zboinski (Sparks, Nev.) joins the Huskers out of Spanish Springs High School, where she was the 2023 NIAA Nevada 5A state champion and school record holder in the 100 breaststroke. At the 2024 NIAA Northern Region Championship, Zboinski won the 100 breaststroke and took third in the 200 IM.

Nebraska hits the water for the first time ahead of the 2024-25 season when the Huskers compete against each other in the annual Scarlet vs. Cream Intrasquad at the Devaney Natatorium on Friday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. The Big Red open the regular season with a tri-meet against Minnesota and South Dakota at the Devaney Center on Friday, Oct. 4.
