Chmelka Announces 2025 Team Captains

Taylor Christopulos, Asher Cohen and Zac Tiderman were selected as Nebraska men’s gymnastics team captains for the 2025 season, Head Coach Chuck Chmelka announced Wednesday.

Christopulos is a graduate student who was named to the first-team All-Big Ten team in 2024, for the second consecutive year. The eight-time All-American placed second on floor, fourth on vault, third on high bar and sixth in the all-around at the 2024 NCAA Championships. Christopulos has been team captain for three years and earned his best on vault with a score of 15.000. He also earned an individual title for his floor exercise of 14.500. The Utah native also set personal bests throughout the season with a 14.75 against Illinois.

Cohen is a junior who earned his first All-America honor last season. He competed in every meet for the Huskers and placed sixth on rings at the NCAA Championships. The junior also earned his best score against Army and Greenville, scoring 14.10 on parallel bars. Cohen scored a 13.996 on rings to help the Huskers to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

Tiderman is a first-year graduate student who competed with the Huskers for two years after transferring from Iowa. This is his second year serving as a team captain. Tiderman earned NCAA All-America honors with a second-place finish on high bar and a seventh-place spot on the vault. Tiderman also scored a 15.00 on vault against Michigan. The two time All-American scored a team-best on high bar of 14.65 against Army and Greenville.

Christopulos, Cohen and Tiderman aim to continue last season's success, defend the team’s regular season title and lead NU back to the NCAA Championship finals, where the Huskers earned a fourth-place finish in 2024.
