The Nebraska men’s golf team returns to action this weekend when the Huskers journey to Wisconsin to compete in the Badger Invitational.
The three-day event at the University Ridge Golf Club in Verona begins with the first round on Sunday, Sept. 29 with tee times off No. 1 and No. 10 at 9:30 a.m. (CT). Action continues with the same schedule for Monday’s second round, before the tournament concludes Tuesday, Oct. 1 with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. (CT).
Nebraska’s lineup in the 5-count-4 scoring format will take on a strong 16-team field in Wisconsin that includes Minnesota and the Badgers from the Big Ten, along with Ball State, Green Bay, Illinois State, Long Beach State, Memphis, Northern Illinois, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, Southern Miss, VCU, Washington State, Western Kentucky and Winthrop.
Hamish Murray leads the Huskers to Wisconsin after tying for seventh at Nebraska’s Git-R-Done Invitational (Sept. 23-24). Murray’s 209 (-4) was a Nebraska career best and helped the Huskers to a fifth-place team finish.
Nebraska, which opened the year with a third-place finish in a 15-team field at Minnesota (Sept. 8-9), notched a pair of top-five finishes to open the season for the first time since 2010-11, when the Huskers opened with a trio of top-three finishes.
Redshirt sophomore Evan McDermott added a career-best 211 (-2) to tie for 11th individually at the Git-R-Done Invitational.
Freshman Brodie Cunningham made his collegiate debut a memorable one by firing a 212 (-1) over three consistent rounds (70-71-71) to take 13th while playing as an individual in Nebraska’s “B” lineup at Firethorn.
Junior Quinn Yost will join Cunningham in making his season lineup debut after finishing 28th with a 216 (+3) at the Git-R-Done Invite.
