The Nebraska cross country team will open its 2024 season at the 13th annual Augustana Twilight meet in Sioux Falls, S.D., at Yankton Trail Park on Friday, Sept. 6. The collegiate women’s 5k will start at 8:40 p.m. (CT) and the collegiate men’s four-mile will start at 9:10 p.m. (CT).
The Husker women won the team title at the Augustana Twilight last year, and the men finished third. Berlyn Schutz captured the women’s individual title with a time of 17:17.18 in her collegiate debut.
The NU women’s team features 12 returners including Schutz, a Big Ten Preseason Runner to Watch, along with Ali Bainbridge and Brynna McQuillen. Bainbridge and McQuillen led the Big Red with 33rd and 34th place finishes, respectively, at the 2023 NCAA Midwest Regional.
The men return six athletes and add five freshmen, along with Temple transfer and Preseason Big Ten Runner to Watch Liem Chot. Trevor Acton highlights the returners, as he placed 60th at the Big Ten Championships last season.
