The Nebraska bowling team is ranked fifth in the 2024-25 National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) preseason poll, announced on Tuesday.
The Huskers received a total of 1,779 points and four first-place votes, behind No. 4 Vanderbilt (1,809 points, four first-place votes) and No. 3 Youngstown State (1,879 points, four first-place votes).
Arkansas State earned the second spot (1,950 points, five first-place votes) finishing behind defending national champion Jacksonville State (2,076 points, 31 first-place votes) despite losing four NTCA All-Americans.
The Big Red return eight bowlers from last season’s team which finished runner-up at the NCAA Lansing Regional, including 2024 All-Americans Jillian Martin and Kayla Verstraete and All-American honorable mention, Brenna Hartzler. The Huskers also feature three new recruits highlighted by 2024 Junior Gold Championship winner, Karina Capron.
The Huskers open the 2024-25 season next weekend, as they travel to the MOTIV Penguin Classic in Youngstown, Ohio, from Oct. 11-13, hosted by No. 3 Youngstown State.
