Huskers Split Matches Against Air Force and UTEP

Colorado Springs, Colo. - The No. 13 Nebraska rifle team finished second in a three-team match Saturday at the Air Force Academy. The Huskers defeated No. 19 UTEP, 4,702-4,617, and fell to No. 7 Air Force, 4,719-4,702.  
 
Nebraska (2-1) earned two of the top five spots overall. Junior Emma Rhode finished third with an aggregate score of 1,180, while freshman Alivia Perkins was fourth with a score of 1,178. 

“Overall today wasn’t the day we had hoped for," Coach Richard Clark said. "That being said, there were a lot of good things to come out of it still. It was fun to watch Emma come out and shoot 590+ in smallbore for the second weekend in a row. It was also great to see Alivia come out with a PR in air rifle along with Riley with an almost PR day in smallbore. The team has done a great job last week and this week learning from the match, which excites me to see what adjustments we can get made this week before heading to Navy for a double header next weekend.” 

Perkins placed first in the air rifle with a mark of 597, tying the second-highest air rifle score in team history. Junior Camilla Johannessen earned a sixth place in the air rifle with a score of 593. Rhode (eighth, 590), Maddy Moyer (10th, 588), Grace Corbett (13th, 585), and Riley Dunn (17th, 580) finished out the air rifle lineup for the Huskers.
 
Nebraska took two of the top five spots in the smallbore. Rhode finished second with a score of 590, while Dunn placed fourth with a mark of 583. Perkins (sixth, 581), Moyer (seventh, 580), Johannessen (ninth, 574) and Corbett (13th, 570) rounded out for the Big Red. 
 
NU will travel east for a pair of matches in Annapolis, Md. On Saturday, Oct. 19,  the Huskers face off against No. 8 Navy and No. 6 Ole Miss. The following day, NU will take on Navy and 10 Memphis. Both matches are set to begin at 8 a.m. (central)
