Orlando, Fla. - The fifth-ranked Nebraska bowling team will travel to Orlando this weekend, competing at Destination Orlando, hosted by No. 18 Sacred Heart at AMF Sky Lanes.
This will be the Husker’s first appearance at the tournament. In the previous year, Youngstown State defeated Jacksonville State to claim the championship. This year, the teams joining Nebraska include 13 of the top 25 teams and eight of the top 10 teams in the nation ranked by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NCTA): No. 1 Jacksonville State, No. 2 Arkansas State, No. 3 Youngstown State, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 6 North Carolina A&T, No. 7 Louisiana Tech, No. 10 Duquesne, No. 11 Stephen F. Austin, No. 12 Mount St. Mary’s, No. 13 Tulane, No. 18 Sacred Heart, and No. 23 Delaware State. Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Bryant, Daemen, Emmanuel, Florida A&M, Monmouth, Prairie View A&M, Saint Anselm, UAB and Wright State complete the remaining 11 teams competing.
The first ball will be thrown Friday morning at 8:25 a.m. (CT) with five sets of five-game baker matches. The tournament continues with five traditional matches Saturday morning, beginning at 7:25 a.m. (CT). The combined results from Friday and Saturday will determine seeding for Sunday’s bracket-play championship tournament. Each team will play three best-of-seven baker matches, beginning at 7:25 a.m. (CT).
