The Nebraska men’s tennis team is headed to Tulsa, Okla., this week for the ITA Regional Championships. The central region tournament, hosted at Tulsa University, runs Oct. 16-20, and is a part of the national ITA tournament held at regional host sites.
Eight Huskers will compete, including seven in the main draw. The regional championship tournaments will name 26 NCAA Singles Qualifiers and 13 NCAA Doubles Qualifiers.
Redshirt senior Henry Bilcic will begin play in the qualifying round on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Redshirt freshman Colson Wells, juniors Lars Johann, Leo Linquet, Joan Torres Espinosa and Nikolay Sysoev and seniors Calvin Mueller and Anton Shepp will compete in the singles main draw. The Big Red will also compete in doubles play, with preseason No. 34 Mueller and Shepp making their 2024-25 debut. Bilicic and Johann will team up again, after reaching the semifinals at this year’s Milwaukee Tennis Classic. Other Huskers duos competing are Sysoev and Wells, and Linquet and Espinosa.
