The No. 10 Nebraska rifle team heads to Annapolis, Md., for a pair of matches this weekend. The Huskers take on No. 4 Ole Miss and No. 12 Navy on Saturday, Oct. 19, and will face Navy and No. 13 Memphis on Sunday, Oct. 20. Both matches are set to begin at 8 a.m. (CT).
The Huskers are 2-1 on the season after going 1-1 last weekend. NU topped No. 19 UTEP, 4,702-4,617 and fell to No. 7 Air Force 4,719-4,702 on Oct. 12. Perkins increased her smallbore score by ten from the season opener, as she scored a 587 against Memphis on Oct. 5.
“Season is in full swing,” Coach Richard Clark said. “The team has done a great job taking what they have learned from our last two matches and making adjustments in practice this week. This weekend we’ve got a great double header lined up with Navy, Ole Miss and Memphis, all of whom are very talented teams. I’m excited to watch the girls go out and compete like they have in practice this week.”
Navy comes into the weekend at 2-1, with two wins against VMI and a loss against TCU. NU has faced off against Navy 26 times since 2000, and has won 21 of those matches. The Big Red most recently lost a close match to Navy, 4,661-4,667, at the GARC Championships in 2021.
Ole Miss enters the match at 2-0, posting wins over No. 12 Akron and No. 9 Murray State. The Huskers and the Rebels have competed six times since 2000, and the series is split at 3-3. Nebraska previously fell to Ole Miss at the 2024 NCAA Championships, as Ole Miss placed seventh (4,693), and Nebraska finished eighth (4,680).
Memphis comes in with a record of 0-1, with its only match being a loss against Nebraska in the season opener. Nebraska posted a 4,709-4,687, victory on Oct. 5.
Following the busy weekend, the Huskers will head to Fort Worth, Texas, to match up with No. 8 TCU on Saturday, Nov. 2.
