Gena Jorgenson captured three individual titles, but the Nebraska swimming and diving team dropped a 170-130 decision to Iowa at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center in Iowa City on Friday.
Jorgenson, a junior from Aberdeen, S.D., swam to victory in the 1,000 freestyle (10:06.98) and 500 free (4:55.64) while adding a win in the 200 backstroke (4:55.64) to lead the Huskers.
Maisie Gilford added a strong all-around performance for the Big Red. The junior from England notched a pair of individual runner-up finishes in the 50 (23.98) and 100 (52.16) freestyles, while also contributing to second-place showings in both the 400 freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay.
Senior captain Maia Hall contributed second-place finishes in the 100 (1:03.62) and 200 (2:17.57) breaststrokes, while adding a third-place performance in the 200 IM (2:07.39).
In the diving well, Abby Baxter claimed victory on the one-meter board (305.10), while Kelsey Clairmont added a fifth-place finish (267.68).
On the three meter, Antonina Harned earned a runner-up finish (315.53), while Baxter took third and Nettie Knapton finished fifth.
The Huskers return home to the Devaney Natatorium to face Iowa State on Friday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. (CT).
