Huskers Blank Oregon on Thursday Night

Lincoln, Neb. - Nebraska scored twice in the first half and tacked on another goal in the second half, as the Huskers blanked Oregon 3-0 at Hibner Stadium on Thursday night. 
 
With the win, Nebraska moves to 5-9-1 on the season and 2-6-1 in conference play, while Oregon drops to 5-9-2 (1-6-2 Big Ten) on the year.
 
The Huskers tallied a multi-score first half for the sixth time this season, as they took a 2-0 lead into the half. Nebraska continued their aggressive play, outshooting Oregon 18-10 with six on goal for the match.
 
Nebraska went to work early with its first shot on goal by Sadie Waite in the 14th minute that was saved by the leaping Oregon goalkeeper. In the 32nd minute, Gwen Lane sent a cross through the Oregon backline to Reese Snowden, who found the back of the net to put the Huskers up 1-0 for her fourth goal of the season. 
 
Just seven minutes later, Reese Borer received the corner from Lauryn Anglim and tapped the ball to Haley Peterson, who snuck the shot inside the left post to extend the Nebraska lead to 2-0 with six minutes to play in the first half.
 
A second-half score from Florence Belzile off a flick from Sadie Waite kept the momentum up for the Big Red and increased the lead to three with 25 minutes left on the clock.
 
Cece Villa put together a clean sheet on the night with four saves on 10 total shots by Oregon. 
 
The Huskers will face Washington on Sunday as the team will celebrate Senior Day. Action is slated for 1:05 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on Big Ten Plus.
