Cream Defeats Scarlet in Scrimmage

Cream defeated Scarlet by a score of 10-4 in the third softball scrimmage of the fall on Wednesday night at Bowlin Stadium. 

Jordy Bahl claimed the pitching victory for Cream, making her 2-0 on the season. Bahl, Mckinley Malecha, and Ava Bredwell led Cream with two RBIs each. Olivia DiNardo knocked a home run for Scarlet. 

Hannah Camenzind pitched four innings and Caitlin Olensky pitched three for Scarlet, both registering three strikeouts. 

In the top of the second, Malecha doubled to right center allowing Abbie Squier to score for Cream. Bahl later doubled to right center to score Malecha and Alina Felix and give Cream a 3-0 advantage.

Talia Tokheim singled to right center in the bottom of the second. This scored Malia Thoms and Bella Bacon and made the score 3-2.

In the top of third inning, Malecha singled up the middle, allowing Felix to advance to third and Dakota Carter to score off of an error. Malecha later stole second, while Carter stole home, extending Cream's lead to 5-2. 

Scarlet stayed in the game at 5-3 with a home run by Olivia DiNardo

In the top of the fourth inning, Cream stretched its lead to 8-3 with runs from Bahl, Emmerson Cope and Bredwell.

The top of the fifth brought Malecha's third score of the game to make the Cream lead 9-3.

Felix posted the only score in the top of the seventh inning for Cream and made the score 9-4.  

Natalia Hill notched a run for Scarlet in the bottom of the seventh to close out the scoring at 10-4, Cream.

The Huskers will host another scrimmage on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 4:00 p.m. at Bowlin Stadium.
