The Nebraska men’s tennis team is sending three Huskers to Dallas, Texas, for the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge this weekend. Hosted by SMU, the tournament features 15 teams and over 70 competing athletes. Juniors Nikolay Sysoev and Joan Torres Espinosa, as well as redshirt freshman Colson Wells, will make the trip to compete in the second-to-last weekend of regular fall play.
The Huskers will begin competition at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex beginning on Nov. 1. The three-day tournament includes both singles and doubles matches, for the participating teams. Twelve of the 15 teams were ranked nationally last season, including the 2024 NCAA Champions TCU.
Wells and Sysoev, are among the leaders in wins for the Big Red this fall, with four each. The pair have also taken on four doubles matches but are currently 1-3. Espinosa has gone 1-1 in doubles play this fall, partnered with junior Leo Linquet. Espinosa has a 1-4 singles mark on the fall, having faced and fallen to multiple ranked opponents. The Huskers look to notch wins this weekend, as the fall season nears its end.
Competition draws and updates will be available on the tournament page.
