Madison, Wis. - Behind Florence Belzile’s three points, the Nebraska soccer team tied Wisconsin on the road, 2-2, on Sunday afternoon.

Belzile recorded her first goal of the season and team-leading fourth assist, as the Huskers are now 4-7-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the Big Ten and Wisconsin stands at 5-3-4 (1-2-3 Big Ten).

For the fifth time this season, the Huskers had a multi-score first half as they took a 2-0 lead into halftime, holding the advantages in shots (6-5) and shots on goal (5-1). Offensively in the first 45 minutes, Belzile led the way with three shots on goal, while Abbey Schwarz, Jordan Zade and Sadie Waite recorded a shot each.

Nebraska came out of the gates firing, recording its first shot just 13 seconds in, followed shortly by a finish in the third minute. Ella Guyott dribbled through the Badger defense close to the corner arc before sending a pass to Belzile, who gathered and shot into the back of the net. The Huskers extended their lead in the 30th minute, as Belzile earned her third point of the match, sending a cross to Schwarz, who scored for her second goal of the season and 12th career.

To start the second half, Wisconsin held the offensive momentum and tallied its first finish of the match in the 65th minute, as Aryssa Mahrt scored her seventh goal of the season off the assist from Ashley Martinez. The Huskers recorded a pair of shots on goal, but it was Wisconsin’s Hailey Baumann who found the back of the net with less than a minute to go in regulation to earn the tie.

Sami Hauk played the complete game and tallied four saves, while Haley Peterson, Reese Borer, Waite, Lauryn Anglim and Sarah Weber joined Hauk in playing the entire 90 minutes.

The Huskers stay on the road and travel east to face Rutgers on Thursday, Oct. 10 and Maryland on Sunday, Oct. 13. NU will meet the Scarlet Knights at 6 p.m. (CT) and the Terrapins at 12 p.m. (CT).
