The Nebraska women’s tennis team will take on its third tournament this fall in Memphis, Tenn., at the ITA Regional Championships this week. After sending individuals to compete in North Carolina and Texas, all seven Huskers are competing at the central region tournament, in both the qualifying and main draws.
Sophomores Emma Rizzetto, Tiziana Rossini, Yuzu Miyoshi and Reya Lee Coe and senior Lucy Loy will play in the qualifying round, on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Qualifying draw athletes will need two wins on Wednesday to move on to the main draw.
Senior Ana Zamburek and sophomore Maria Taranova will be competing in the automatic main draw, beginning on Thursday, Oct. 10. Doubles action also begins on Thursday, with duos Zamburek and Loy, Taranova and Rossini, and Rizzetto and Coe taking the main draw.
The central region tournament, hosted by the University of Memphis at the Leftwich Tennis Center is one piece of the national ITA tournament held at regional host sites. The regional championship tournaments will name 26 NCAA Singles Qualifiers and 13 NCAA Doubles Qualifiers.
