Huskers Set for Bill Dellinger Invitational

The Nebraska men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Eugene, Ore., this Friday, Oct. 11 at the Pine Ridge Golf Club. The men’s 8k is slated to start at 1:15 p.m. (CT) with the women’s 6k immediately following at 2 p.m. (CT). 

Last Time Out
NU took part in the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational in Lincoln. The women’s team took first place in the 5k, while the men placed second in the 8k. Ali Bainbridge (17:37.40) and Brynna McQuillen (17:44.30) led the women’s team with second and third-place finishes, respectively. Rico Leijenaar grabbed a 10th-place finish for the men with a time of 25.04.00 and Dennis Chapman finished 15th, running a 25:22.17. Chapman claimed Big Ten Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors. 

Bill Dellinger Invitational History
The Bill Dellinger XC Invitational is named for University of Oregon men’s track and field coach Bill Dellinger, who was a three-time Olympian, the 1964 Olympic bronze medalist at 5,000 meters, and holder of two world indoor and six American records. 

The 2024 season will mark the first time that the Big Red has competed in the Bill Dellinger Invitational.
