Huskers Drop Match at No. 6 TCU

The No. 10 Nebraska Rifle team fell to No. 6 TCU, 4,728-4,686, on Saturday. 

Junior Emma Rhode represented the Huskers (5-3, 1-2 PRC) in the top five and took third place with an aggregate score of 1,185. The Huskers posted a team score of 2,373 in the air rifle, which was a season-high mark.

“We are growing,” said Coach Richard Clark. “While today’s number is not what we wanted, we still saw some good things. As a team we shot our season high in air rifle which has been a large focus for us in practice the last two weeks, so it was good to see that show itself today. It was exciting to watch Maddy shoot a new PR in air rifle and Alivia to be a point off her PR. Emma has continued to be super consistent for us, it was great to watch her work through her smallbore match and fire another 592. Overall we are not satisfied with the weekend, but we’ve got some good things to carry with us and some things to work on this week at practice before hosting UTEP for our only home match of the year.”

In the air rifle, NU took two of the top five spots. Freshman Maddy Moyer placed third with a personal high score of 597. Moyer’s score tied the second highest air rifle score in team history. Fellow freshman Alivia Perkins followed, taking fourth with a mark of 596. Emma Rhode (seventh, 593), Camilla Johannessen (13th, 587), and Grace Corbett (17th, 580) finished out the lineup for the Big Red. 

Rhode placed first in the smallbore with a mark of 592, and Perkins followed in ninth place with a score of 579. Moyer (13th, 575), Johannessen (15th, 567), and Corbett (16th, 566) rounded out the lineup for the Huskers. 

Nebraska will travel back home to Lincoln for a home match, as the team hosts No. 16 UTEP on Sunday, Nov. 10. The match is slated to start at 8:00 a.m. (CT).
