Nebraska’s Ridge Lovett (149) claimed his first career Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honor, as the conference announced its award winners on Thursday afternoon.
The senior recorded two wins in the past week, with his second fall and first ranked win of the season. Lovett pinned Campbell’s Oliver Fairchild in 2:16 to put the Big Red in the lead, and eventually win the dual 40-6. Against #6 Lachlan McNeil, #5 Lovett blanked the Tar Heel and won by decision.
Lovett, who is currently the fifth-ranked wrestler in the nation, is the first Husker to win the honor since Peyton Robb in Dec. 2023.
Up next, the Huskers head to the Navy Classic and seek to defend their title for the third season in a row. The tournament will have live results and brackets on FloArena, with first bouts set to start at 8 a.m. (CT) on Saturday, Nov. 23.
