With an undefeated 3-0 record on the year, the Nebraska wrestling team is headed to Annapolis, Md., looking to defend their Navy Classic title on Saturday for the third season in a row.
In 2023-24, the Big Red earned its second-straight and third all-time title at the Navy Classic. Six wrestlers won their weight classes and individual titles last year, to put Nebraska in first out of 14 teams with 212 points. Caleb Smith (125), Brock Hardy (141), Antrell Taylor (157) and Lenny Pinto (174), all return to the tournament seeking back-to-back individual titles.
The Navy Classic will begin at 8 a.m. (CT) on Saturday, Nov. 23. Live scoring and brackets will be available on FloArena. The tournament, held at the Wesley A. Brown Field House, is expected to finish around 5 p.m. (CT).
The Big Red are one of 12 teams at this year’s Navy Classic, competing among Navy, Air Force, American, Bucknell, Davidson, Kent State, Lock Haven, Michigan State, Ohio, The Citadel and the Virginia Military Institute.
Last Time Out: The Huskers took down Campbell, 40-6, and the No. 25 Tarheels, 34-3, in North Carolina last Friday. The back-to-back duals featured Nebraska’s first outdoor dual bouts in program history, and the wins were powered by 12 bonus-point victories.
Ridge Lovett won his first career Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honor on Nov. 21. The senior is the first Husker to claim the honor since Peyton Robb in Dec. 2023.
