Sophomore Ali Bainbridge ran at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning in Madison, Wisc.
Bainbridge ran a 20.26.0 to place 76th at the championships. She is the first Husker to qualify for the NCAA Championships since Erika Freyhof in 2021, and her 76th-place finish is the highest since Lara Crofford placed 45th in 2008.
BYU won the team title with 147 points, while West Virginia was second (164) and Providence was third (182). Doris Lemngole of Alabama earned the women’s individual title, as she ran a 19:21.0.
Over the course of the season, Bainbridge claimed Second-Team All-Big Ten and NCAA All-Midwest Region honors. She was NU’s top finisher in three out of five meets this season, including the Big Ten Championships and the NCAA Midwest Regional. The Sioux Falls, S.D., native set PRs in the 5k (17:37.40) and 6k (19:46.20) this year.
