Gena Jorgenson and Maia Hall capped three impressive days of swimming by leading Nebraska to its second consecutive Hawkeye Invitational team title on Saturday in Iowa City.
As a team, Nebraska amassed 1,368 points well ahead of second-place San Diego State (1,238). Arkansas finished third with 1,187, while Illinois came in fourth at 987.5 and the hosts from Iowa rounded out the top five with 879 points.
Jorgenson, a returning All-American from Aberdeen S.D., clocked a season-best NCAA B cut time (16:07.95) to capture the individual title in the 1,650 freestyle. Freshman teammate Riley Miklos added an eighth-place finish (16:49.52), while Caterina Bisiacchi took 10th (16:49.82).
Hall swept the Hawkeye Invitational breaststroke titles by racing to a win in the 200 breast on Saturday. The senior from Whitby, England, secured another NCAA B cut and an individual title by clocking 2:11.58. Fellow senior JoJo Randby added an NCAA B cut of her own to contribute a fifth-place finish (2:13.20), while Sydney McCracken put three Huskers in the top eight with her eighth-place showing in 2:15.41.
In the 200 backstroke, Jorgenson took third place with a time of 1:58.60, while freshman teammate Marissa Laurin posted a time of 1:59.99 to secure 10th.
Maisie Gilford (49.51, 4th) and Beatrix Tanko (49.59, 5th) led the Big Red in the 100 freestyle. Redshirt freshman Jenna Brown contributed a fourth-place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.70, while Bisiacchi pitched in an eighth-place performance (2:04.84).
Gilford, Giulia Marchi, Randby and Tanko teamed up for a second-place showing in the 400 freestyle relay in a time 3:18.25.
In the diving well, captain Kelsey Clairmont posted 250.55 on the platform to place fifth, while junior Nettie Knapton took seventh with a 208.65.
The Huskers divers will be back in action at the Rutgers Invitational, Dec. 5-7, before the full team returns to dual action on Friday, Dec. 13, when they clash with Omaha at the Devaney Natatorium. Start time for the dual with the Mavs is set for 4 p.m. (CT).
