Huskers Bounce Past Jackrabbits

Brookings S.D. - The Nebraska swimming and diving team got eight individual victories and won both relay events to power past South Dakota State, 170-72, at the Marshall Center Pool on Friday.   

The Huskers started off the meet strong by dominating in the 400 medley relay. Marissa Laurin, Maia Hall, Anna Vlachou and Giulia Marchi clocked 3:54.21 to win the event. Madison Lloyd, Amelia Riggott, Jenna Brown and Riley Miklos added a runner-up finish in a time of 3:58.93 to complete a sweep of the top two spots for the Big Red.  

Junior captain Gena Jorgenson returned to her home state with a bang, securing three individual wins to extend her individual unbeaten season. The All-American from Aberdeen, S.D., clocked a 10:05.65 to take the title in the 1,000 freestyle, before claiming victories in the 200 IM (2:08.25) and the 100 backstroke (58.85).  

Beatrix Tanko shined for the Big Red in the sprint freestyle events. The sophomore from Budapest, Hungary clinched wins in both the 50 (24.31) and 100 (52.80) freestyles. Tanko was also the anchor for Nebraska's winning 200 freestyle relay.   

Sydney McCracken posted a time of 1:06.44 in the 100 breaststroke to capture another victory for the Big Red. The senior from Kennett Square, Pa., also produced a second-place finish in the 200 IM (2:11.79).  

Jenna Brown, a redshirt freshman from Louisville, Ky., clocked 59.83 to take the win in the 100 butterfly. Brown also contributed to the second-place 400 medley relay for the Huskers.   

Jazmyn Lunn returned home for the first time in her college career. The freshman from Brookings posted a time of 5:22.52 in the 500 freestyle to finish fourth.  

The Huskers continue their road stretch in Iowa City to compete in the Hawkeye Invitational on Thursday, Nov 21 through Saturday, Nov 23.
