Huskers to Host In State Battle

The Nebraska swim and dive squad returns home to take on the Omaha Mavericks on Wednesday at 4 p.m. (CT) at the Bob Devaney Natatorium.  

The Huskers are coming off two dominant performances at the Hawkeye Invitational and the Rutgers Invite.  

At the Hawkeye Invitational, Maia Hall and Gena Jorgenson led the Big Red to a second consecutive team title. Frankie Webb and Kelsey Clairmont shined at the Rutgers Invite to help the team place second.  

Maia Hall raced to a school record in the 100 breaststroke (59.97), becoming the first Husker to break a one-minute time. The senior from Whitby, England clocked 2:11.58 to take the title in 200 breaststroke, leading her to sweep the breaststroke events at the Hawkeye Invitational. 

Gena Jorgenson clocked a season best NCAA B cut time to clinch the title in the 1,650 freestyle (16:07.95). The returning All-American also swam her way to wins in both the 1,000 freestyle (10:06.98) and 500 free (4:55.64). She added another victory in the 200 backstroke (4:55.64).  

Frankie Webb posted a season-best 250.20 to lead Nebraska on the one-meter board. She also scored 290.50 on the three-meter.  

Captain Kelsey Clairmont captured runner-up honors on platform with a score of 242.35. 

Last Meeting with Omaha 
Last season, the Huskers powered past the Mavericks 190-109 in Omaha. Jorgenson led the Big Red with four victories including contributing to the 400 freestyle relay win. Caterina Bisiacchi swam a 5:05.91 to capture the title in the 500 freestyle.  JoJo Randby placed first in the 200 breaststroke. Abby Baxter came out with the win on the one-meter board.  

A look at the Mavericks 
The Omaha swim and dive team is coming off of a 177.50-122.50 win over South Dakota State. Payton Easley finished first in the 50 and 100 freestyles and contributed to two relay wins. Bella Price took first in the three-meter dive.
