Nebraska track and field hosts the Husker Holiday Open on Friday, December 13 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center Indoor Track to open its 2025 season. Events begin at 10 a.m (CT), and admission will be free for all home competitions.

2025 Season Preview
The Husker Holiday Open is the first chance to watch Nebraska return to competition after a historic 2024 season. Head Coach Justin St. Clair led the Husker men to a Big Ten Outdoor title, while helping the women to their second-straight top 10 finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. 

Finishing 12th in the men’s race at the NCAA Indoor Championships, the Huskers earned four indoor USTFCCCA First-Team All-American honors and seven total, the most since 2011. The Husker men finished second at Big Ten Indoor Championships, highlighted by three conference champions: Till Steinforth, Tyus Wilson and Micaylon Moore. The NU women placed 25th with 8.5 points at the NCAA Indoor Championships, producing three First-Team All-Americans for the second year in a row, while adding a school record and three new top-10 marks. 

Nebraska carried the success into the outdoor season with the men claiming their second-straight Big Ten title for the first time since the 2009 and 2010 seasons and the women earning second, their highest outdoor finish since 2015. The women, powered by Rhema Otabor’s second NCAA title in the javelin, took ninth at the NCAA Championships, the second-best finish since 2006. The men tied for 13th in the team standings, led by Darius Luff bringing home the title and Tyus Wilson securing silver. With 19 total team points, the Husker men earned their best team finish since tying for 10th in 2016 and earned the most team points since 2014. The men and women combined for 15 All-American honors, seven school records and 40 new top-10 marks throughout the outdoor season. 

Nebraska’s Returning All-Americans and Big Ten Champions
A four-time First-Team All-American and 2024 Olympian, Till Steinforth placed third in the heptathlon and seventh in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships. The school record-holder in both the decathlon and heptathlon, Steinforth went a personal-best 26-2 3/4 (7.99m) in the long jump to earn his second-career Big Ten Title and holds the fourth-best mark in school history.  

The reigning NCAA Runner Up and Big Ten Indoor and Outdoor Champion, Wilson has the No. 3 high jump mark in school history. The senior from Sterling, Kan., was the 2024 Outdoor Big Ten Field Athlete of the Year and a three-time First-Team All-American. 

A senior from Fort Collins, Colorado, Micaylon Moore garnered All-American honors in both the indoor and outdoor triple jump, with top five Husker history marks in both events. Moore won the triple jump Big Ten indoor title with a 52-11 1/2 (16.14m) and earned the silver medal at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships with an outdoor personal-best of 53-6 1/4 (16.31m).   

Henry Zimmerman earned First-Team All-American honors, placing seventh at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships with a weight throw of 74-3 (22.63m), capturing bronze at the Big Ten Championships and breaking the school record on four occasions. In the outdoor season, he finished as Big Ten runner-up in the hammer throw with a distance of 222-6 (68.07m) and posted the second-best mark in school history. 

The junior from St. Thomas, Jamaica, Rhianna Phipps is a four-time USTFCCCA All-American, earning first-team honors in the triple jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a personal-best mark of 44-7 (13.59m). She was named a second-team all-american at the Outdoor NCAA Championships, finishing 15th with a 42-8 3/4 (13.01m) jump. Phipps is also a three-time placer at the Big Ten Championships, most recently winning the outdoor triple jump title.  

A 2023 NCAA Champion, 2024 Olympian and five-time All-American, Axelina Johansson owns the shot put school record. The senior from Hok, Sweden, finished as a bronze medalist at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, throwing 59-10 1/4 (18.24m) to earn her fourth First-Team All-American honor. She also earned her second-straight Big Ten Title and third overall with a mark of 60-8 (18.49m) at the outdoor championships. 

A senior from Rutherford, N.J., Jenna Rogers is a six-time All-American and three-time Big Ten Champion. She earned First-Team All-American honors at both the outdoor and indoor NCAA Championships, placing sixth and fifth. Rogers also placed second at the Big Ten Championships in both seasons, and broke the high jump school record at the Olympic Team Trials, tying for third with a 6-3 1/4 (1.91m).  

A 2024 Paris Olympian, Mine De Klerk, earned First-Team All-American honors and won the Big Ten Indoor Shot Put Championship. De Klerk burst onto the scene last year after transferring from Oregon placing seventh at NCAA Indoors (56-1 3/4, 17.11m) and earning bronze at Big Ten Outdoors (56-4, 17.17m) in shot put. She moved up to No. 3 in school history after recording a career best 58-4 1/2 (17.79m) at the Frank Sevigne Invitational. 

A 2024 First-Team All-American, Eniko Sara placed fifth in the javelin at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a personal-best 182-7 (55.66m), good for fifth-longest in school history. Sara finished fourth at the Big Ten Championships and earned the title at the Florida Relays with a mark of 177-11 (54.23m). 

A 2024 First-Team All-American, Velecia Williams, finished seventh with a 21-0 1/2 (6.41m) at NCAA Outdoor Championships. Williams placed sixth in the long jump (20-1 3/4, 6.14m) and placed 13th in the triple jump (40-7 1/2, 12.38m) at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. The senior went a personal best 21-6 1/4 (6.56m) in the long jump at the NCAA West Preliminary Round, moving to No. 7 in school history.   

The senior from Superior, Neb., Kalynn Meyer earned Second-Team All-American honors in the discus after placing 15th (179-3, 54.63m). Meyer finished fifth in the shot put at the Big Ten Championships with a mark of 54-6 1/2 (16.62m). She climbed to eighth on the all-time list with a distance of 55-0 3/4 (16.78m) at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. 

A senior from Rosemount, Minn., Maxwell Otterdahl is a three-time All-American and three-time Big Ten Champion. In the 2023 season, Otterdahl moved up to third on the all-time list in the shot put with a distance of 67-8 (20.72m) at the NCAA Indoor Championships, placing fourth. Maxwell claimed fourth in the shot put (67-4, 20.52m) and 13th in the discus (192-3, 58.60m) at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.   

The senior from Council Bluffs, Iowa, Darby Thomas, ran a personal-best 60m time at the Big Ten Championships with a 7.43 to place 11th and move up to No. 6 on the all-time list. In 2022, Thomas won the Big Ten Indoor Long Jump Championship with a mark of 20-11 3/4 (6.39m). She finished 13th in the long jump at the Big Ten Indoor Championship jumping 19-5 1/4 (5.92m). 

2024 Big Ten Bronze Medalist, Lotavia Brown finished third at the Mark Colligan Memorial (11.97m) and fourth at the Frank Sevigne (12.34m). During the outdoor season, Brown placed fifth in the triple jump at the Big Ten Championships with a mark of 42-7 1/2 (12.99m). In 2023, she won the Big Ten Outdoor Triple Jump Championship going 43-09 (13.33m). 

A 2021 and 2022 Big Ten Javelin Champion and three-time All-American, Maddie Harris, holds the second farthest throw in school history with a 199-3 (60.73m). The senior earned runner-up honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2022. In 2023, she captured fourth place at the NCAA Championships with a mark of 187-10 (57.26m).
